New Toyota Avalon Earns Top Safety Pick From IIHS

Every second you spend on the road should be a safe one. This makes safety one of the primary reasons California drivers are drawn to certain models of cars, trucks and SUVs. As with many Toyota models, safety expectations are often exceeded. Their efforts paid off again on the 2019 Toyota Avalon when the IIHS (Insurance Institute for Highway Safety) named it 2018 TOP SAFETY PICK+ with its optimal headlight option.

Several areas are examined for a vehicle to earn this title. Specific ratings are required from a variety of safety tests performed on roof strength, passenger and driver's sides, head restraints, front crash prevention and headlights. Overall, a vehicle must do more than possess safety features, it must prove them.

The Toyota Avalon earned good ratings in nearly all areas of crashworthiness. Under the crash avoidance category, the Avalon earned a superior rating for front crash prevention, and two trim levels - Touring and Limited - were rated strongly for their LED projector headlights.

The LED projector headlights were what helped boost the Limited, Touring and Hybrid Trim levels of the 2019 Toyota Avalon to achieve the 2018 TOP SAFETY PICK+. These headlights create optimal visibility for drivers. The test judged how the headlights performed and how far they extended on straight and curved bouts of road.

We applaud the 2019 Toyota Avalon for its success and are proud to offer it in San Rafael. Learn more about what the Toyota Avalon has to offer.
