Those who follow our Toyota Marin blog know that the 2012 Toyota Camry was recently awarded a perfect safety score for its highly-advanced driver/passenger protection capabilities. With this in mind, we're thinking the same fate is in store for the next-generation Toyota Corolla. Why? Mostly because both models are sculpted from the same outstanding, durable Toyota clay. But we also derived this inkling from the fact that the new Corolla takes a lot of visual cues from the revamped Camry as well.
Although the upcoming Toyota Corolla has not yet been released through any official means, Toyota Marin was able to get ahold of a few spy-cam images of the vehicle's tester model driving the streets of Europe. Completely covered in camouflage, the pre-release Corolla doesn't offer up too many styling details. However, we can tell that it takes the sharp lines of the latest Camry and displays similar headlights, a deep-V grille and wide-open air damn. Unlike, its Toyota cousin however, the newest Corolla will be smaller and more compact and follow along with the company's promise to inject more passion into its vehicle lineup.
No official word yet on drivetrain, but that doesn't mean auto enthusiasts aren't making their best guesses. One author from The Motor Report says, "expect the new Corolla to debut - at least in Europe - with a new BMW-sourced diesel engine."1
For now, there isn't too much information regarding the 2013 Toyota Corolla but you can leave the vehicle detail hunt up to us.
